TREE TRIBUTE GALLERY

Participatory installation and website: Google Gemini, Veo-3, custom software 2024-ongoing
For this interactive piece, the artists invite visitors to honor a tree from their own neighborhood
by contributing photographs, measurements, and personal reflections through the project
website—creating a living archive that blends individual memory with local ecology. Using AI tools,
the artists generate customized images and short text tributes, interweaving visitor observations with
trees’ biological features and regional context. The display shows tributes from previous visitors,
creating an evolving portrait of the city’s urban forest.
Explore trees in your neighborhood and create a tree tribute based on biology, history,
and your own unique perspective that will be archived for others to appreciate.
On the display in di Rosa SF's museum at 1150 25th Street, San Francisco, you can see examples below from previous visitors. As tree tributes come from the SF exhibition, we will create this experience around Bay Area history and trees.

Tree #15 : Corymbia ficifolia
This resilient Corymbia ficifolia, nearly three decades old, brightens South of Market with its distinctive bloom and sturdy form. A comforting landmark for those traversing the urban landscape each morning, it absorbs the street's rhythms. This hardy tree has observed profound alterations, from the dramatic freeway's collapse that reshaped the district, to the more recent "Tech Bus" protests that punctuated city streets. Its roots connect to an evolving area where innovation and heritage intertwine. This solitary watcher offers a silent testament to SoMa's enduring spirit and constant reinvention, a living memory amidst the city's flux.
