Ancient Wisdom for a Future Ecology: Trees, Time, and Technology brings together new and recent works by Tiffany Shlain and Ken Goldberg that examine how we understand time, systems, and interconnection.
Drawing from dendrochronology—the study of tree rings—as well as data science and artificial intelligence, the exhibition reimagines the structures through which we interpret the past and project the future. Sculptural and media installations translate complex systems into visual and experiential forms, revealing patterns that are at once scientific, poetic, and deeply human.

Extending beyond object-based work, the exhibition includes a robust program of talks, performances, and public events that activate the ideas of the project through shared experience. Together, these works and engagements propose new ways of thinking about ecology, technology, and collective time.

Originally presented as part of PST ART: Art and Science Collide at Skirball Cultural Center, the exhibition is expanded at di Rosa Center for Contemporary Art with new site-responsive works and additional projects by each artist.
The presentation is organized by Twyla Ruby, Curator of Exhibitions + Programs.
