There is a well-known Jewish axiom, “The whole entire world is a very narrow bridge... the main thing is to have no fear at all,” attributed to Rabbi Nachman of Breslov (1772–1810). Shlain removed the last part of the phrase and used the natural dot marks in the wood as ellipses to invite the viewer to think about the main thing they want to focus on in these precarious times.
