Under the radiant sunlight of Los Angeles, a Cassia leptophylla thrives, around 38 years young, gracing the corner near the coffee shop that marks the start of many mornings. Its striking yellow blooms, a subtle reminder of nature’s artistry, have witnessed the opening of the Abbey Food & Bar, fostering community spirit, and the arrival of the Getty Center, enhancing cultural significance. Though often overlooked in daily hustle, the tree’s presence is integral; its absence would echo my mornings with a profound emptiness. It stands as a living testament to resilience and continuity amidst the ever-changing backdrop of city life.
